As 2021 begins, Foodbank Lakeside is forging ahead to provide aid to Covid-impoverished families with regular supplies of basic pantry goods.
Since kicking off activities last April, the group’s team of volunteers has worked diligently on its own and in cooperation with other social assistance groups to deliver around 13,000 despensas (food kits) among the needy in seven north shore localities – an admirable accomplishment by any measure.
Foodbank Lakeside is a vital resource for the area’s most vulnerable inhabitants: the elderly, the chronically infirm and entire households whose breadwinners lost their jobs during the long months since the pandemic first struck.
There are back stories for each of the hundreds of beneficiaries. One example is Lucy of San Antonio Tlayacapan who has been battling kidney disease for the past ten years.
