Pro art teacher gears up Ajijic classes

Novice and experienced artists have the opportunity to develop and hone basic drawing and painting skills in classes that will be starting next week at two Ajijic venues.

pg13Accomplished art instructor Jorge García Viramontes has scheduled introductory classes to be held every Monday and Tuesday as of January 11 and 12, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Centro Cultural de Ajijic. One-hour classes are set for Tuesday mornings, 10 a.m., in the Ken Gosh Pavilion at the Lake Chapala Society, starting on January 12.  All will be in-person instruction for groups of 10 to 15 persons.

Beginning and advanced students will learn basic principles of perspective, proportion and composition and techniques to draw and paint landscapes, stilllifes, human figures, portraits and other works in watercolor, oil, pencil and pastel. Theory on employing color, light and shadow will also be covered.
