The Chapala government has started construction of a small chapel where Ajijic residents will be allowed to hold wakes for deceased relatives.
While local families customarily organize overnight vigils at their homes prior to funerals for the dead, crowds of mourners often spill out into the street.
They will soon have a dignified alternative venue at the public Capilla de Velación, to be located on Calle Juan Alvarez, one block south of the highway near the Plaza Bugambilias shopping complex.
