Malecon & plaza closures continue

While the state government mandated shutdown of local sports facilities was partially lifted as of Tuesday, February 2, Chapala area public plazas and Malecón boardwalks will remain closed for at least one more week under Covid-19 containment measures.

pg15aLocal gyms, sports clubs, public parks and other similar locales have been reopened for up to 50 percent capacity to allow residents to practice athletic activities and physical exercises. Official recommendations for senior citizens to stay at home except for the most essential activities, such as banking, doctor appointments and shopping for groceries and medications, remain in place. Chapala area supermarket and convenience store chains, shopping malls and street markets remain under orders to deny entry to minors and individuals over age 60. The restrictions do not apply to restaurants, cafés and other food outlets that may operate with limited admittance to clientele.

Governor Enrique Alfaro is slated to announce new strategies for confronting the pandemic on February 12.
