Shazam! Traffic lights back on

Nagging is sometimes the only way to get bureaucrats off their duffs.

For nearly two weeks local residents peppered the Chapala government with gripes about the black out of the traffic lights at the Carretera-Libramiento intersection and the lack of constant traffic police supervision at the busy crossroads. City Hall officials in turn claim to have pestered Jalisco’s Department of Transportation to come out and fix the glitch.

Out of the blue this Thursday somebody flipped a switch or did whatever it took to get the signals illuminated again. Unless the repair included better synchronization of the whole system, it won’t take long for cynics to resume complaints about backed-up traffic and other woes at this cursed trouble spot.
