Two young men identified as residents of Chapala were killed instantly when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car at the easternmost intersection of La Floresta.
The accident occurred on Monday, July 19, shortly before 6 a.m. Paramedics and municipal police arriving on the scene a short time later discovered the two victims sprawled in the roadway near the broken remains of an Italika motorbike.
A late model Nissan sedan was on the opposite side of the highway, smashed nose first into an electrical post, with extensive damage in the rear end. The driver of the car reportedly fled before the authorities arrived.
