Troy Mills, commander of Ajijic’s American Legion Post 9, reports that the August 28 barbecue luncheon hosted as a benefit for Mama Cleo’s Boys Home was a huge success, generating 45,000 pesos from the sale of 95 dinners and extra donations.
On September 2, he handed over the proceeds to the home’s founder Alex Bernardino (left), to be spent on repairs and improvements to the facility that shelters 12 boys aged eight to 18. Mills extends special thanks to Juan Mata of Ranger BBQ for donating the ingredients and preparation of the meal and to Johnny and Brenda at Mama’s Musical Bar for providing the venue and bar service.
