Foodbank Lakeside will have the ability to supply basic pantry foods to hundreds of needy families during the holiday season thanks to the generosity of people who opened their hearts and purses in support of the November 22-30 matching funds challenge.
Three donors put up 50,000 pesos with a pledge to match additional contributions pesos for peso.
The campaign surpassed that goal, bringing in enough to cover the cost of 260 despensas (pantry supplies), covering over 30 percent of the group’s monthly expenses. Foodbank estimates that the bill for one meal at the area’s high-end restaurants is equivalent to the cost of putting food on the table for one needy person for an entire month.
