Ajijic Arts Society board looks for new blood

The board of the Ajijic Society of the Arts  (ASA) is choosing not to run for their respective offices at the next election, scheduled Monday, February 7, 10 a.m. at La Bodega Ajijic.

The present board has been re-elected “by default” for more than a decade and a half, and are standing down to let a new group of artists take the reins of Lakeside’s largest artistic organization.

There is a small window of opportunity for those who are not members, or have let their membership lapse, to become paid-up voting members, and possibly candidates for the six open board positions. Saturday January 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can sign up for membership at the ASA garden show at the Lake Chapala Society with secretary Melody Peterson or treasurer Gwynne Lott. The other option is to come to the February 7 board meeting early (9 a.m.) and sign up there.

If you wish to be a candidate for one of the positions, you must be a current member and email a biography and information about what you can bring to one of the positions — president, first and second vice presidents, treasurer and secretary — to the head of the nominating committee, Robina Nicol, by midnight, January 23.
