Slick, broad scope Lake Chapala website unveiled

People interested in learning all about Lake Chapala and its ecosystem will find a wealth of information on a new website unveiled this month in conjunction with the February 2 commemoration of World Wetlands Day.

pg13aThe slick digital platform titled “Chapala: un lago vivo” is found at lagodechapala.org.

The site is organized in five main sections containing comprehensive information about the lake and its watershed, the surrounding mountain ranges, flora and fauna, examination of environmental problems and current programs providing solutions.

Browsers will discover 52 illustrated fact sheets that fully describe birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, plants and trees found in the region’s rich habitat. It is an excellent resource for students of all ages, academic institutions, scientists and virtually anyone curious to learn about the natural attributes of Mexico’s largest lake.

The website is an educational arm of the Bosques + Agua + Gente para Chapala project directed by the pro-environment non-profit Instituto Corazón de la Tierra, put together with funding partners Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la Naturaleza and Fundación Gonzálo Rio Arronte.
