Chapala City Hall urges ouster of Pueblo Magico president

The Chapala government is calling for the dismissal of Ajijic Pueblo Mágico Committee President Alejandro Sahagún, after he was publicly exposed engaging in an ugly confrontation with a female expatriate resident on Friday, March 4.

pg1bVideo footage showing Sahagún and the women exchanging insults and physical blows outside his San Antonio Tlayacapan restaurant immediately went viral on social media, causing a huge stir and a battle of opposing opinions among scores of viewers.

During the shouting match, apparently in a dispute over the woman’s reluctance to put on a face mask, Sahagún is seen shoving her in the chest, then knocking her to the ground after she retaliated by striking him with her handbag. An elderly bystander who was in his parked car also got involved in the brief fray.

The Chapala City Hall press office wasted no time in issuing a strong statement condemning Sahagún’s handling of the situation.

“The municipal government of Chapala expresses its indignation at the reprehensible acts of violence against a foreign woman that occurred in the Delegación San Antonio Tlayacapan at the hand of Alejandro Sahagún, president of Pueblo Mágico Citizen Committee proposed during the past administration,” the press release read.
