Chapala Mayor Alejandro Aguirre popped by a recent training session of the municipality’s amateur soccer squad to offer moral support to the players heading into the first round of the 2022 Copa Jalisco tournament.
Games get under way this weekend, with Chapala facing off against Tuxcueca on Sunday, April 10, 4 p.m. Chapala came in as sub-champions in last year’s Jalisco Cup, spawning high hopes to rise up through the regional ranks for a new shot at the title at the August 7 final.
A total of 118 men’s teams are competing in the tournament, with 74 more entered in the women’s division.
