Ajijic’s Seis Esquinas plaza undergoing renovation

The Chapala municipal government’s Public Works Department has initiated an extreme makeover of the small plaza at Seis Esquinas, located on the west end of Ajijic where Calles Ocampo, Álvaro Obregon and Hidalgo intersect.

pg24 copyThe project got underway on Monday, September 19 with the removal of the benches and lamp posts, which will be replaced by new ones, to improve the appearance of this emblematic nook of the village.

Work also entails widening  the south side of the plaza to measure a full four meters across, defining a straight line at the curb. The surface will be finished with terracotta slabs and borders made of river stone set in a sand-colored base.

Decorative details will feature a fish made up of letters spelling out the name Ajijic from the original design by Bruno, plus a pair of catfish.
