Niños Incapacitados get by with a lot of help from their friends

Hit tunes by The Beatles and other golden oldies rocked the roof of Ajijic’s El Barco for the three-day series of performances by the local band Los Romeos, organized as fundraisers for Niños Incapacitados.

The back-to-back bashes held on January 28, 29 and 30 played to full houses of around 100 guests on each date, with the mostly baby boomer audience getting up to dance and join in to sing along with familiar lyrics.

The shows were inspired by the last ever live Beatles gig, recorded on the roof of their Apple offices in central London on January 30, 1969.

The “rooftop”  Romeos opened their performance with a spirited rendition of “Get Back,” recalling the opening and closing takes originally recorded by The Beatles. The band wrapped up the first set with “A Little Help from my Friends,” with leader singers Elmo James and Pauline Proulx aptly reflecting the objective of the shows.
