Lakeside’s Tails of Mexico animal advocacy group is raring to go for a huge spay and neuter clinic scheduled for Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5 at Chapala’s Secundaria Tecnica 83.
A total of 400 cats and dogs are registered for appointments spread out over the two days, making it the largest sterilization program in lakeside’s history.
The project will be handled by a team of experienced veterinarians and a big backup crew of volunteers.
Aside from the free sterilization surgeries, the program will include full spa treatment for the animals: nails trimmed, ears cleaned, and brush-on flea treatment. Collars, leashes, engraved name tags, cat toys and bandanas for all the dogs will be handed out to their human companions. And rabies shots will also be available.
With the cost for each sterilization calculated at 500 pesos, clinic expenses will add up to a whopping 200,000 pesos, equivalent to over US$11,000. Tails of Mexico would be immensely grateful to supporters willing to chip in donations and contribute to reducing the number of unwanted puppies and kittens engendered in the community.
Donations to the cause can be made through the Foundation for Lake Chapala Charities lakechapalacharities.org/animal-welfare.
