Ajijic delegado resigns

Max Macias Arceo resigned as the Ajijic delegado on January 17, revealing the news the following evening through a brief post on his Facebook page, citing personal motives for relinquishing his duties as town administrator.

pg11aAlthough he did not specify the reasons for his decision, most villagers were well aware of his commitment to supporting his wife Sandra Hinojosa, who has been undergoing cancer treatments since last year.

Macias was appointed as acting delegado in October 2021. Chapala Mayor Alejandro Aguirre eventually suspended the public referendums to select the officers to head Chapala’s satellite towns that had been customary under previous administrations. Despite never being ratified by a vote, Macias was admired by his Ajijic constituents, attributed to his cordial personality and dedication to public service.

Timoteo Aldana Pérez has been named to fill in for Macias until further notice, while still maintaining his job as director of the Ajijic water services office (Simapa).
