The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) ran its annual Summer Art Camp last week with a record-breaking 198 youngsters enrolled in the program.
Five days of art and craft workshop activities wrapped up Saturday, August 3 with a sale of assorted items created by participants aged from four to 16.
Fifty-nine volunteer instructors and assistants guided the classes on watercolor and acrylic painting, sketching, engraving, photography, pottery, embroidery, crochet, textile art and cartonería papier maché figures. Other art camp supporters contributed bakery goods to complement the lunchtime snacks provided to the kids.
LCS also handed out commemorative T-shirts to all the budding artists and crafters.
Regular sessions of the Children’s Art Program continue every Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon, at the south end of the LCS campus. Admission and the provision of art supplies are free of charge.
