Global biopharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca will invest 600 million pesos (approximately US$30 million) this year to expand its Global Center for Innovation and Technology (GITC) in Guadalajara.
British-Swedish owned AstraZeneca established the GITC in 2016, where it now provides more than 1,000 services supporting the company’s global value chain.
Jeff Haskill, Vice President of Enterprise Technology Services, stated that the expansion aims to further establish AstraZeneca Guadalajara as one of the company's most important multifunctional service centers worldwide.
This investment is part of AstraZeneca's strategy to double its annual revenue from US$40 billion to US$80 billion by 2030. Alberto Treviño, Executive Director of the center, shared this goal in a recent interview with WIRED en Español. "To sustain this growth, the organization decided that, while expansion was necessary, it couldn't be done everywhere. Therefore, they strategically selected five to six cities to focus on, and Guadalajara was one of them."
