Governor delivers first phase of Chapala improvement projects

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro arrived in Chapala on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 4, to inaugurate the initial renovations of Paseo Ramón Corona and the upgraded sports facilities in La Cristianía Park.

pg1dThe broad thoroughfare stretching between Avenidas Madero and González Gallo has been rebuilt with four traffic lanes and parallel parking on a single level, paved with textured hydraulic concrete atop new underground water, sewage, and electrical conduits. Landscaping improvements include garden beds, new trees, and the installation of the Pepe Guízar monument. The 50-million-peso investment was channeled through Jalisco’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP).

Completed park improvements include the construction of six tennis courts, four pickleball courts, two paddleball courts, and two basketball courts, along with new pathways and lighting. Lemus described the renovation of more than 190,000 square meters of the grounds as the most significant modernization project in the park’s history. The SIOP budget for this stage totaled 25 million pesos.

The next phase of the upgrades is scheduled to begin in 2026, covering the extension of Ramón Corona through the Acapulquito restaurant zone and additional work in La Cristianía Park, including the creation of a lakefront malecón and other recreational facilities.
