Free seminars on dementia

Current data shows that 6.2 million Americans age 65+ have been diagnosed with some form of dementia. Licensed Counselor, Dementia Specialist & Author E. Jane Wyatt, who found her most challenging role to be caring for her own mother with dementia, will be presenting two sessions on the topic on Friday, July 12, at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Calle San Jorge 250, Riberas del Pilar.

Recycling of Lakeside Chapala volunteer Brad Wiesnewski created quite a sensation at the Ribera Medical Center when he arrived last week with two large sacks of plastic bottle caps as a donation to a campaign to support children and adolescents afflicted with cancer.

Wixárika sacred site boundaries marked

The exact boundaries of  Xapawiyemeta, a sacred indigenous ceremonial site located on Lake Chapala’s Isla de los Alacranes (Scorpion Island), were officially defined during two days of activities undertaken by traditional governors and representatives of the Wixárika, Náayeri, O’dam or Au’dam and Mexikan people, in conjunction with officials from the Instituto Nacional de los Pueblos Indígenas (INPI) and the Presidential Commission on Sacred Places (CPLS).
