Volaris flying high

With air passengers numbers in Mexico soon estimated to reach the 2008 high of 27.6 million, Volaris director Enrique Beltranena is going on a spending spree.

Volaris is purchasing 57 new Airbus 320 planes over the next eight years. Presently Volaris serves 24 destinations in Mexico and seven in the United States.  Its domestic market share has grown to 19 percent. Baltranena bases the airline’s success on its program “Tu Decides” (You Decide), in which the passenger can pay for the ticket in 30, 60 or 90 days, with 80 percent of sales being performed on the Internet. Two of the six new aircraft to be purchased this year will be based in Guadalajara, he said.
