Miami closer than ever thanks to Volaris

Wednesday, February 1, 7:53 a.m., was the date and time set for the launch of the first direct flight from Guadalajara to Miami, yet another U.S. city serviced by discount Mexican airline Volaris.

But rain showers the previous night created dense fog that closed the city airport in the early morning. So Volaris flight 852 suffered the same fate as numerous others and finally took off about 3 1/2 hours after its scheduled departure time. Nevertheless, the airline proceeded with its celebration, including an onboard mariachi band and ticket and t-shirt giveaways, which cheered up the groggy passengers on the inaugural flight.

Volaris service from Guadalajara to Miami, a city known for its tourism and sky high proportion of Hispanic residents, has begun with a promotional fare of $US101 each way.

In Florida, Volaris also has direct flights to Orlando, home of Disney World and other attractions, a popular destination for Mexican families and children. See www.volaris.com for more details.
