Corn farmers support Nafta

Many players in the U.S. agriculture sector are imploring President Donald Trump not to do anything drastic that would upset the huge benefits that the North American Free Agreement (Nafta) brings to American farmers, the New York Times reports.

The United States exports almost $US18 billion of agricultural products to Mexico each year, including 13.8 million tons of corn, which is used mostly for livestock feed. “The threat is particularly unsettling for many residents of the Corn Belt because much of the region voted overwhelmingly for Mr. Trump in the presidential election,” the Times says.b
