Tiger cub all packed up and headed for Queretero

A two-month old Bengal tiger was discovered inside a large package, Monday, February 5, at a mail service company inside the city’s large Central Nueva bus station.

Sedated and without food, the animal was otherwise unharmed.

The blue plastic container in which the animal – a member of an endangered species  was found had been perforated to let in air and bound by a strip of packing tape. A bed of newspapers had been laid out for the tiger kitten to rest upon.

Employees of the postal service called authorities when they noticed the parcel, marked for delivery to Queretero, was moving and emitting strange noises.After ascertaining its contents, officials of the Federal Police’s canine unit placed the animal in the care of the environmental protection wing of the federal Attorney General’s Office.This is the third endangered species of cat found by federal authorities this week. Another Bengal tiger was found in a Oaxaca parcel service, while a jaguar was found abandoned in a cage in Chihuahua.
