AMLO sweeps overseas vote

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was the presidential candidate of choice for Mexicans living abroad.

The representative of the Morena party won 64.85 percent of the overseas vote, which doubled in size compared with the 2012 election, with 98,470 votes received (the total six years ago was 40,714). PAN candidate Ricardo Anaya garnered 26.75 percent of vote and the PRI’s Antonio Meade a paltry 4.68 percent. Lopez Obrador’s share of the expat vote was more than ten percent higher than his final total of 53.19 percent.
