Puerto Vallarta beaches among the cleanest in the nation

Ten Puerto Vallarta beaches are included in a list of 263 considered by federal authorities as the “Playas mas Limpias” (Cleanest Beaches) in Mexico.

The Commission for the Protection against Heath Risks (Cofepris) lists the following Vallarta beaches as more than fit for bathing and activities: Yelapa, Quimixto, Las Ánimas, Mismaloya, Gemelas, Los Muertos, Cuale, Oasis, Las Palmares and Camarones.  In addition, Vallarta has eight Blue Flag certified beaches, six of which are not included on Mexico cleanest beaches list: Palmares, Camarones, Playa de Oro, Amapas, Conchas Chinas I, Conchas Chinas II, Garza Blanca and Sheraton.

The Blue Flag is sought by beaches, marinas and sustainable boating tourism operators as an indication of their high environmental and quality standards. Certificates, which the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) refers to as awards, are issued on an annual basis to beaches and marinas of FEE member countries.
