As reported in last week’s edition, Mexico is changing its telephone dialing system, with all numbers dialed within the country, from both land lines and cellphones, to contain ten digits as of August 3. This means the prefixes 01, 044 and 045 will no longer be necessary.
Regarding international dialing, there is only one change. No longer will it be necessary to add an extra “1” when calling a cell phone from a U.S. phone.
Mexico will retain its country code, 52, so calling into the country will still require 12 digits.
