Job creation slumps

New job creation in Mexico in 2019 fell to its lowest level since the financial crisis of 2009, according to figures supplied by the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).

In total, the IMSS reported 342,077 new sign ups by employers, 95 percent of which were permanent positions and the rest temporary. Average wages for salaried employees over the past 12 months rose by six percent.
