Foreign travel to Mexico still low in June

Airline passenger traffic to Mexico from the United States and Canada last month was down 90.7 and 98 percent respectively compared with 2019.

In June, 2020, 100,526 passengers arrived from the United States (the figure was 1.08 million for June, 2019), and just 1,485 from Canada (72,747 in 2019), according to data from Mexico’s Tourism Ministry.  In the first six months of this year, passenger arrivals from the United States have fallen by a total of 55.2 percent, and 38.7 percent from Canada.

International arrivals at the Guadalajara Airport in June fell by 72.8 percent, while Puerto Vallarta’s airport welcomed a mere 6,978 foreign passengers last month compared with 92,749 in June 2019 – a drop of 92.5 percent.
