Lincoln book has multi-purposes

In a recent podcast, the U.S. National Park Service used the book “Abraham Lincoln and Mexico” by Guadalajara-based historian and author Dr. Michael Hogan, to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month during September.

The discussion focused on the official visit by Mexican Ambassador Matias Romero to Lincoln’s home before he was inaugurated as president. The podcast also covers many other events in the book that are evidence of Lincoln’s support for Mexico while he served as a congressman and president.  Lincoln’s home in Springfield, Illinois, is a historic site and part of the National Park System. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library has a 2016 first edition print copy of the book that includes archival documents examining Lincoln’s support for Mexico. The book is also in many other libraries in the United States and in several other countries.
