Mexico secures Covid vaccines for 90 percent of population

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard announced this week pre-purchase contracts with three pharmaceutical companies – AstraZeneca, CanSino Biologics and Pfizer – to provide sufficient Covid-19 vaccines to cover more than 90 million citizens.

for no. 1Along with vaccine doses previously agreed under the COVAX international mechanism, Mexico has guaranteed that around 116 million of its population (around 90 percent) will be inoculated against Covid-19.

The initial phase of vaccinations is expected to begin in December and cover some 2.5 million people. Medical staff and people with underlying medical conditions will be prioritized.
