Retire at 75 & work three days a week, suggests Carlos Slim

Mexican telecommunications mogul and billionaire Carlos Slim has proposed a radical idea to transform labor models throughout the world.

His suggestion: retirement at 75 years of age, a three-day working week, with 11-hour workdays.

An increasingly influential figure in President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s economic program (he has won several lucrative government contracts and has the ear of the president), Slim said the coronavirus pandemic has created “an unusual economic and social situation” that has affected young people the hardest, severely limiting their work prospects.

Increasing the retirement age and reducing the working week will avoid countries going bankrupt and create  new job opportunities, Slim said.
