Mexico wine voted ‘world’s best’

A winemaker in the state of Coahuila has earned the accolade of producing the “World’s Best Cabernet 2020,” following a triumph in the seventh edition of the Concours International des Cabernets (CIDC for its acronym in French).

To take the crown, the Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva 2013 from Vinos Don Leo in the “Magic Town” (Pueblo Magico) of Valle De Parras beat out 270 labels from 25 countries.

The winery produces a variety of Cabernet Saivignon-Shiraz wines that have previously won medals at the International Challenge Du Vin and CWSA China Wine & Spirits Awards.

Don Leo’s vineyards are located about 40 kilometers from the town center, at 2,100 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest vineyards in the world.
