Inflation between October 2019 and October 2020 is running at 4.09 percent, according to Mexico’s National Statistics Institute (Inegi).
Many products, however, have far exceeded that number. Those with the highest inflation indicators over the past 12 months, Inegi says, are: onion, 72.9 percent; rice, 44 percent; nopal, 38.4 percent; tomatoes, 32 percent; sugar, 20 percent; corn, 14.4 percent; LP gas, 12 percent; and cigarettes, 11.6 percent.
