Announcing that he has fully recovered from his bout of Covid-19, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador immediately jumped back into controversy, declaring that under no circumstance will he be wearing a face mask from now on.
Lopez Obrador resumed his public duties Monday after spending two weeks in isolation in the Presidential Palace, where he received personalized and preferential medical treatment.
Asked by a reporter if he will now set an example to the nation and wear a face mask, if only to raise awareness about how using them can save lives, he replied, “No, I am no longer contagious.”
