Mexico, the United States and Canada will hold their first formal trilateral meeting on July 1 to begin the mandatory joint review of the USMCA trade agreement.
The virtual session—the sixth anniversary of the pact’s entry into force—will allow each country to outline its position on the treaty’s future. Mexico and Canada have both signaled they want a straight 16-year extension, but President Donald Trump has publicly questioned the deal’s value, telling reporters: “I would rather leave it unsigned. I’d rather have it terminated”.
