If you failed to register your Mexican cellphone by the end of last month, don’t sweat. Mexico’s telecommunications authority canceled the June 30 deadline for mandatory cellphone registration, replacing it with a staggered schedule from August through December based on the last digit of your phone number.
For numbers ending in 0, the deadline is August 15; for numbers ending in 1, it is August 31. For numbers ending in 2 through 9, deadlines scale bi‑weekly or monthly through December 31.
Unregistered lines will be suspended from service within 72 hours of their deadline. Once suspended, phones will only be able to connect to emergency services.
The registration process remains unchanged. Users must link their phone number to their CURP identity number online, either through their provider's official portal or directly via their carrier.
