Walter Bowker

Walter “Walt” Bowker died at his Ajijic home on September 21 at the age of 77.

Born October 17, 1934 in Newportville, Pennsylvania, Bowker joined the U.S. Air Force in 1956, and met and married Dot McKee in the same year.

The couple moved to Philadelphia from Levittown, Pennsylvania in 1966 and divorced in 1970.

Bowker was an architect and owned a construction business with his sons, who continue to operate the business.

He married Bonnie Silverstein in 1986 and the couple traveled around the world purchasing merchandise for their boutique in Pennsylvania, before retiring and moving to Mexico in 2006. Bonnie died in 2010.

Bowker was a founding member of the Lake Chapala Society Singles Club. He loved Ajijic and was passionate about his Spanish classes and dancing. He had recently joined the Ajijic Writers Group.

Bowker made many friends in the Lakeside community and they will miss him.

He is survived by two sons, Steven and Michael Bowker, both of Pennsylvania.
