Donald Joseph Kislinger

Lakeside resident Donald Joseph Kislinger died in a local clinic on November 14 at the age of 91.

Born March 1, 1921 in Merritt, Wisconsin, Kislinger joined the U.S. Army and fought in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon his return to civilian life, he opened an auto-body repair shop and then a Chrysler/Ford auto dealership in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, where he worked until his retirement in 1988. He was a stock car racer, and owned and operated his own speedway for several years.

Kislinger married Frieda Dobson in 1948 and the couple had four children. Don and Frieda moved to Lakeside in 1990, first near Jocotepec and then to Mirasol in Ajijic in 2005.

He was a member of American Legion Post Seven in Chapala and was an avid bridge player.

He is survived by his wife Frieda of Ajijic, son Donald Kislinger (wife Linda) of Duluth, Minnesota, daughter Carmen Germain (Thomas) of Pt. Angeles, Washington, son Chris Kislinger (Janet) of Holmen, Wisconsin and son Peter Kislinger of Tacoma, Washington.

He had three grandchildren, Miriam, Ariel and Joseph.

Kislinger will be remembered in a Memorial Mass at 9 a.m. on Sunday, November 25 at San Andres Church in Ajijic.

He is remembered as a great father, husband and friend. His family wishes to thank the staff at Hospital Ajijic for their help at this difficult time.
