Derald W. Prosser

Lakeside resident Derald W. Prosser died at the Chula Vista Golf Course on February 27 at the age of 68.

Prosser was born on November 4, 1944 in Suffex, New Brunswick and entered officer’s training school at the University of New Brunswick in 1963. He served in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps for more than 35 years, in both the Royal Canadian Dragoons regiment  and the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) regiment. He retired in 1999 with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Prosser and his wife Mary moved to San Antonio Tlayacapan in 2005. He joined the Canadian Legion when the First Charter was established last year and served as the acting chaplain.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Bonnie Pineau and Lori Laframboise; and sons-in-law Ben Pineau and Gilles Laframboise. He had four grandchildren, Daniel and Nicole Laframboise and Sophie and Sam Pineau.

A celebration of Prosser’s life was held March 7 at the El Parque Community Center.
