Ronald Bentley Main

Riberas del Pilar resident Ronald Bentley Main died March 7 in a Guadalajara hospital at age 66.

Main was a native of the state of Washington who grew up in the small town of Cowiche, north of Yakima. He attended Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho before settling down in Seattle. He worked at several of the city’s top notch restaurants, before switching careers to in real estate and home decoration and design.   In 1994 he served as president of the Greater Seattle Business Association, the local gay community’s chamber of commerce.

He retired to Puerto Vallarta in 2003 and moved to the Lake Chapala area five years ago.

He is survived by a son, Todd Schwarzenbach of Bellevue, Washington.

Schwarzenbach was at his father’s bedside when he died. He stayed on afterwards to join Main’s lakeside friends for a celebration of his life.
