Sandy Williams

Lakeside winter resident Sandy Williams died March 17 in her home in Brisas de Chapala after a long illness. She was 71 years old.

Born October 2, 1941 in London, England, Williams moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1967. There, she established a direct marketing agency, with clients such as Lexus and the Royal Bank of Canada.

Williams was an avid sailor and was an active member of the Lagoon City Yacht Club. She married John “Jack” Dunsmore and retired from Toronto to Kirkfield, Ontario in 2000. The couple began spending their winters in Ajijic in 2004.  Her husband passed away in 2006.

Williams was outgoing and enjoyed meandering through the villages of San Antonio and Ajijic, meeting people along the way and getting to know them. She was a regular attendee at Open Circle and Los Amigos, where she met her partner of five years, Colorado winter resident Walter Hinchman in 2008.

Besides her partner, there are no survivors.

At Williams’ request there will be no memorial service or other “mournful events.” Instead, when the snowbirds return next fall there will be a grand “celebration of life” party.

Everyone who knew and loved her should look for an announcement of the event next November.
