Obituary - September 19, 2015

Jeanne Cuerier Clem 

Full-time Ajijic resident Jeanne Cuerier Clem, 84, died Sunday, September 6 after a short illness with her beloved granddaughter, Tiffany, by her side.

Born February 7, 1931, in Memphis, Tennessee, Clem graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas, where she met married James Mark Clem, whom she married in July 1951. She served in the U.S. Marine Corp so she could follow him in his military service assignments. They were stationed in Japan and later in El Paso, Texas. 

The couple lived in Denver and Chicago, where she worked in the marketing industry and had her own theater. The 3M Company later transferred her husband back to Dallas, where they raised three children and traveled extensively, especially enjoying trips to Mexico. Later the Clems formed a start-up sign company which they until they retired and moved to Lakeside in 2010. 

Clem was active in the Texas Club, loved to entertain and experience the wide variety of eateries at Lake Chapala. She often attended the Amigos gatherings at La Nueva Posada with her husband. She was passionate about bridge, but her very special times were when she was out dancing with her husband.

Clem is survived by her husband, their daughter Jeanette Johnson, son Christopher Clem and daughter-in-law Nancy, two grandsons, four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl Sendra. 

Clem’s many lakeside friends shared the memories of her ebullient love for life and her warm and gracious spirit during a celebration of her life on Sunday, September 13 in Ajijic.
