Patricia Elliott
Patricia Elliott (Smith) passed away after a long illness at her home at the Raquet Club in San Juan Cosala on November 16 at the age of 80.
Elliott was born in Buffalo, New York on October 25, 1935. She married John Elliott in 1954, and the couple lived in Niagara Falls and Toronto, Canada for several years, before moving to Buffalo. They spent their summers at their cottage, “Rainbow’s End,” at Pleasant Beach, Port Colborne, Ontario, with family and friends every year since 1955, including this past summer.
The Elliotts opened their own business, Elliott Travel Agency, Inc., in 1978, which they expanded to include five locations in Western New York by 1985.
Pat and John traveled extensively to Europe, Asia, Africa, North, Central and South America and the Caribbean, often escorting group tours. One of these tours brought them to Lake Chapala, where they fell in love with the charming lakeside villages, majestic mountains, welcoming atmosphere and perfect temperatures. They bought a home in Ajijic and retired there in 1987. In 2001, they moved into the home they designed and had built in the Raquet Club.
In New York Elliott enjoyed growing showplace African Violets and became president of the African Violet Society of Williamsville. She was a member of Women in Travel of WNY, Guns & Garters Square Dance Club of Buffalo, and an avid breeder of African Cichlid Fish, having over 100 tanks at one time. At Lakeside she was a member of the Lake Chapala Society, the Tuesday Line Dance Group, the Garden Growers Group and the Lakeside Orchid Lovers and several ladies lunch groups. She was also a member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church.
Elliot had a great love of adventure and sense of humor, which she has passed down to her descendants. She is survived by husband John Leonard Elliott; son Steven John of Tonawanda, New York; daughter Laurie Jeanne and husband Robert Fullone, of Blasdell, New York; and sister Janet Wolfe, of Lancaster, New York. She is the devoted grandmother of Tiana, Jordan and Devon Elliott, Ryan Farish (Lacey), Meagan Jablonski (Donnie), Nicholas and Michael Fullone; and great-grandmother to Ryan, Sean and Brendan Farish. Her bedtime stories and camp fire songs will live on through the memories of the family.
