Obituary - June 18, 2016

Domenic Anthony Valenti

Longtime lakeside resident Domenic Anthony Valenti, 78, died June 6 from massive heart failure while in a Guadalajara hospital.

Born July 30, 1937 in Trinidad, Colorado, Valenti grew up surrounded by his tight-knit Italian community and family. After graduating high school, he joined the Santa Fe Railroad, where he stayed until his retirement in 1993.

Valenti and his wife Carol then moved to Mexico to join their daughter and grandkids and has lived here for the past 24 years.

“Dom” will be remembered as a genuine, sincere, fun-loving man who enjoyed dancing to country music and classic rock and roll. Always sporting a big smile, and always a gentleman, he blended into the community through his social activities and strong family leadership.

Valenti enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with friends, family or the local “Los Guerros” club, of which he was a member.

His physical condition was envied by many and he kept himself fit and healthy with hefty workouts.

Valenti was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Carol Valenti, and his son Tony Valenti.  He is survived by his daughter Dixie Nicholson; grandchildren Bryan James and Cassie Valenti; great-granddaughter Shenea; and his companion of five years, Pat Moir of Chapala.

Valenti will be greatly missed as he impacted so many lives in the lakeside area. To honor his wishes, there will be a casual “celebration of life” at the Monte Carlo Hotel on Wednesday, June 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be performances by local musicians to express Valenti’s love for dancing and music.
