Nancy Woods Chaloner

Nancy Woods Chaloner died July 22 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

pg10Born June 16, 1957 in Montreal, Quebec, Chaloner was educated at the city’s Weston Academy and the Queen of Angels School, and studied for a time at McGill University.

She first came to Mexico about 30 years ago and lived in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, where she worked in the catering business and then on private yachts. She then began a successful export business focusing on agricultural products, especially chia seeds.

Chaloner moved to Ajijic nine years ago to be near her parents, Don and Doreen Chaloner. She opened a store called the Eye of the Beholder, where she sold specialty oils and other agricultural products, while she continued with her export enterprise.

Chaloner was an occasional model at fashion shows featuring local designers, and at times a hostess at local charity events. She enjoyed traveling with her parents.

Chaloner is survived by her parents; sisters April-Marie Semenchuck (Neil), Robin Chaloner and Mary Chaloner; and niece Megan Semenchuk. She also leaves her much-loved three dogs and a cat.

Chaloner was known as a very kind, caring person and will be missed by her family and many friends.
