pg14bRonald Howard Cohen

Lakeside resident Ronald Howard Cohen, died November 12.

Born in New York City March 25, 1943, Cohen worked in journalism until the time of the Cuban missile crisis. For the next 12 years he hitchhiked all over the United States, Canada and Mexico, covering, by his own estimation, more than 100,000 miles.

Cohen then settled down and ran his own company, while continuing to write, picking up, in his own words, “an ungodly number of rejection slips.”

Cohen retired and moved to Mexico eight years ago. Although not wealthy,  he said of himself: “I have not been unhappy being unknown and unbothered.”

The lakeside Jewish community is raising money to pay for Cohen’s cremation. Those who would like to contribute and/or attend a memorial service for Cohen are asked to call (376) 766-3728.
