Rachel Arias

Lakeside resident Rachel Arias passed away September 8.

pg11bArias was born August 31, 1951, in Indiana and lived there most of her young adult life.  She graduated from Wirt High School and immediately after that she went to work for Indiana Bell.

Arias moved to San Antonio, Texas, and transferred to Southwestern Bell. After five years she transferred back to Indiana Bell in Indianapolis. She stayed there until she retired.

Shortly after retirement, on a friend’s recommendation, Arias decided to check out Ajijic. She came and liked it very much. She decided to move here and the rest is history.

Arias would like to be remembered for her margarita-drinking days and her quirky saying, “Now you’re cooking with gas.” Everybody was a “sister” to her.

Arias was a beloved member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church. For the past two years, she was the talented and capable office manager there. She had a passion for sewing and taught children’s sewing classes. The kids loved her, because at heart she was a kid herself.
