Matthias Muller

Lakeside chocolatier Matthias Muller, who died in October of last year, was born in Zurich, Switzerland.

Muller came to Mexico 24 years ago, living in Playa del Carmen, where he met his wife Cora de Alba, and Guadalajara, before moving to the Raquet Club in San Juan Cosala about 10 years ago.

A versatile man, Matthias worked in many jobs in which he developed his talents as a salesman. However, he was always longing to find a job that would fulfill his heart. Inspired by this desire, he learned the art of handcrafting premium chocolate back in his native country.

Returning to Mexico, he opened Chocolac Axixic in 2016, with the aim of providing unique flavors with compelling designs, while maintaining handmade quality.

Unfortunately, Matthias became sick in January 2022.

His family and employees are deeply saddened by his passing but as Chocolatc Axixic store manager and stepdaughter Misty Yoakum promises, “We will keep Matthias’s dream alive.”

Muller is survived by his wife Cora del Alba, his stepson Sundance Yoakum and stepdaughter Misty Yoakum.
