Still time to register for Tourism Fair

The long-anticipated Tianguis Turistico (Tourism Fair) 2012 comes to Puerto Vallarta from Sunday, March 25 through Wednesday, March 28.

The nation’s premier trade event in the world of travel and tourism, the Tianguis Turistico promises to bring more than 500 industry companies together to share technology and techniques and sell their products and services to thousands of wholesalers and other buyers.

While the event is closed to the public, anyone with ties to the industry  – including tour operators, meeting planners, event organizers, travel agencies, etc. – can attend the event. Go to http://tianguisturisticomexico.com.mx/?en and click “Sign up today.” From there, fill out the pre-registration form and wait for the next step in your email. Registration costs 200 dollars.

The city has been gearing up for the big dance for a while, with refurbished roadside decoration and several ancillary events scheduled during the Tianguis. Restaurant Week this year will go from March 20-30, with discounted prices at many highlighted destinations. There will also be polo and golf tournaments and a wine festival.
